About

Tappin’ In began after a successful project for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Culture Programme and has since grown into an organisation dedicated to creating accessible artistic opportunities for people who may feel excluded from the arts. The focus is on breaking down barriers through joyful, inclusive art forms that nurture skills, confidence and enthusiasm in a supportive environment.

Shaped by working-class roots, Tappin’ In champions co-creation, celebrates diverse stories and promotes cultural integrity while minimising environmental impact. The aim is to ensure everyone involved feels valued and empowered to make positive change within their communities through meaningful shared experiences.

The Team

Our principles

The arts are for anybody who wants to engage with them

To remove where possible all barriers to taking part, with access at the heart of the project

To co-create work and give people what they want

To make sure everyone involved is looked after and supported to the best of our abilities and budgets

To tell people’s stories and celebrate where we come from

To celebrate joy and pride and not worry about perfection

To have as little impact on the environment as possible

Our work should honour and uphold the integrity of every culture and artistic genre it engages with.

To enjoy what we do and never take ourselves too seriously
